March 31, 2005 - LexisNexis today announced it has acquired Weil Publishing Company, a leading publisher of state administrative codes, state government registers, and regulatory indexes. Weil Publishing is headquartered in Augusta, Maine. Weil Publishing was represented in the transaction by merger and acquisition advisory firm Whitestone Communications, Inc.
This acquisition is another positive stride taken by LexisNexis as the company continues to grow its core legal research business.
Weil's collection of publications includes 15 state codes, 14 state registers and 14 guides (indexes), all sold primarily on a subscription basis. The company provides other state legal information through a monthly report on New York employment law, and it provides online services for Montana law. Weil is also the official publisher of Montana Supreme Court cases.
The addition of Weil Publishing to the LexisNexis family of publishers will complement the LexisNexis editorial expertise in a number of jurisdictions and markets. The Weil content enriches and broadens the already vast editorial sources of LexisNexis products for attorneys - both online and print. This acquisition also increases the administrative code editorial capabilities of LexisNexis.
LexisNexis has had a licensing relationship with Weil since 1996.
As the integration of the two companies progresses over the next several months, customers will continue to see quality products and outstanding customer service from Weil and LexisNexis.
