New York, N.Y., December 4, 2000Oxford University Press has announced its acquisition of the assets of Engineering Press, a nationally recognized publisher of engineering college textbooks and engineering college textbooks and engineering license exam preparation books. Engineering Press was represented in the sale by the investment-banking firm of Whitestone Communications, Inc., based in New York.
"This acquisition helps Oxford University Press to achieve a much stronger position in the highly appealing engineering field," noted Senior Vice President and Publisher Barbara Wasserman. "Particularly of interest to Oxford is the fact that Engineering Press publishes the number one selling title in Engineering economics, "Engineering Economic Analysis."
Engineering Press owner Brian Newnan called the sale "a tremendous opportunity for Engineering Press and its authors. The business will now be part of a highly regarded, international publisher with broad distribution agreements. This will make possible among other things, the placement of our test preparation book line in college bookstores.
