Given a continued terror threat and Wall Street's recent dives despite signs of an economic recovery having kicked in, it comes as no surprise that Whitestone Communication's Who's Buying Whom report shows Q2 M&A activity among B2B publishing/education/finance/business/legal sectors soured. Deal dollar value, a paltry $39M, was down 76% from Q2 last year ($159M), as were deals (-75%) compared to 2001 Q2 results (17 deals). "People are really scared there is going to be another terrorist attack," says Whitestone managing director Sharon Sevrens. "That was worrying a lot of people before the July 4 holiday."
