Thomson Financial Print Selling Spree Leaves Eli Research In Good Health

Even as the economy continues to cool, the B2B M&A market remained brisk last week as Durham, NC-based Eli Research acquired 54-year-old newsletter Medicine & Health and 30 healthcare reference books (Medical Outcomes & Guidelines Sourcebook/Behavioral Outcomes & Guidelines Sourcebook/Health Care Almanac & Yearbook) from Thomson Financial's Banking/Insurance/E-commerce group.

With a slumping ad market, picking up the subscription-based properties ($225-$695 per year) has folks at Eli, including chairman Greg Lindberg, "very excited." And they should be, according to Baran Rosen, whose Whitestone Communications brokered the deal. "These [TF] properties are insulated from an advertising flux during down markets," he tells us. "Subscription-based publications are and will continue to play a significant role in the M&A market."
