Newsletter publisher PBP (Malvern, PA) has acquired Oakstone Legal & Business Publishing (Wayne, PA), a unit of Oakstone Publishing (Birmingham, AL), from Haights Cross Communications (White Plains, NY). No terms were given. Haights Cross was represented in the deal by Whitestone Communications (New York).
Oakstone Legal & Business produces 26 specialized publications and related reports on a variety of legal topics in the business, insurance, employment and disability sectors, as well as for the education market. Including such titles as Enron Litigation Reporter, the assets help bring "a better understanding to educational institutions and businesses of their legal rights and responsibilities to help them avoid costly mistakes and ensure compliance with the law," PBP said.
PBP CFO Tom Schubert said that Oakstone "fits our profile. In addition, they used a sales model similar to ours. This will allow us to leverage our existing expertise." Established in 1989, PBP produces 28 newsletters and related products for the finance, government compliance, medical, IT, sales/marketing and human resources markets, including such titles as CFO & Controller Alert, Internet Market Report, Information Technology Advisor and The Nonprofit Board Report. With this sale and the sale last month of Andrews Publications to West, all Haights Cross assets are now focused on the education sector, including Sundance Publishing/Newbridge Educational Publishers (Littleton, MA), Truimph Learning (New York), Recorded Books (Prince Frederick, MD) and Chelsea House Publishers (Broomall, PA).
